About Russian Majolica

Russian Majolica

Our ceramic atelier is an association of artists and ceramists many of whom are members of various professional societies and associations based on family craft businesses.

This is why our works are of authorship even when we rework famous historical objects of art or use our standard molds.

This is also why you can get exceptional art objects made for your home in one singular exemplar. Even when they are made using our standard molds, there’s always a unique component to them: low relief murals, carved ceramics, art murals or complex multilayered brilliant glazing.

Yet another wonderful tiled portal in the Northern Art Nouveau style.

The antique tiled stove located in Vyborg inspired us to create a hipped chimney and an overhanging upper part of the portal.

As always, the main idea of the tiled stove was reworked to suit current interiors, and the tiles of our National Romanticism series with needles and cones were used in the decor. A border from the same series with acorns and oak leaves divides a smooth suspension and a large curved cornice. The stucco mural with a coniferous wreath and a ‘bouquet’ of cones and branches was made in the same decorative spirit as the tiles.

The tiled stove makes a lasting impression. The rich color of fantastic azure with a range of deep blue shades of northern seas reflects in the ceramic surface of and refracts light, scattering it into thousands of colored sparks. The translucent depth of the glaze attracts the eye and one can’t help but contemplate the sparkling ceramics. It is as if it absorbs the viewer and makes you look back to the fireplace again and again, not letting go of itself and causing an acute desire to never break away from the handmade majolica.
