About Russian Majolica

Russian Majolica

Our ceramic atelier is an association of artists and ceramists many of whom are members of various professional societies and associations based on family craft businesses.

This is why our works are of authorship even when we rework famous historical objects of art or use our standard molds.

This is also why you can get exceptional art objects made for your home in one singular exemplar. Even when they are made using our standard molds, there’s always a unique component to them: low relief murals, carved ceramics, art murals or complex multilayered brilliant glazing.

We present an elegant floral tiled fireplace with camellia ceramic murals and delicate embossed tiles in a cream-colored glaze.

Despite its size, this small floral tiled fireplace is very challenging to build, as it has a complex architecture and combines cascading heights and multiple levels of depth. Therefore, all the numerous protrusions and height differences had to be circumvented with ceramics, which resulted not only in a large volume of different parts, but also in a complicated installation.

The initial fireplace was modified by removing unnecessary brick “excesses”, cutting down the brick elements of the socle, producing missing elements during installation, and, of course, adjusting the basic tiles of the “Byzantine” collection to the actual size of the fireplace body.

As a result the floral tiled fireplace is very pretty. It harmoniously combines delicacy and purity, elegance and sensuality of decoration. The delicate lacework of the cornice is rhythmically supported by laconic smooth surfaces, occasionally interrupted by chains of beads on the borders, and the miniature floral painting in a pastel palette adds a modest charm.

We named our floral tiled fireplace “Camellias” because of the images of these flowers on the murals, but in addition, the stove is full of French spirit and creates a mood of elegant boudoir luxury, reminiscent of Marguerite Gautier – Lady with Camellias from the world famous novel by Dumas.
