The art nouveau style fireplace of purple-red color, made based on the antique stove of the Rakkolaniok pottery factory (Rakkolanjoen Kaakelitehdas) of the beginning of the 20th century, designed by the architect Eduard Dippel.
Dippel’s project is designed for indoor heating stoves and has significant architectural differences from our tiled fireplace. His stoves in the style of national romanticism are narrow and tall, crowned with large cornices with stylized flowers. We used the cornices from Dippel’s project to balance the wide base of the fireplace with integrated firewood boxes. Models of tiles with flowing stems were made as well.
Quite bold was the decision of the customer to apply bright red glaze with the effect of black blotches and patina on the edges of the relief. This the solution is quite extraordinary and obliges to study the design of the entire interior.
As a result, the art nouveau style fireplace turned out to be very bright. It dominates the interior and subjugates the rest of the decor elements of the room.
