About Russian Majolica

Russian Majolica

Our ceramic atelier is an association of artists and ceramists many of whom are members of various professional societies and associations based on family craft businesses.

This is why our works are of authorship even when we rework famous historical objects of art or use our standard molds.

This is also why you can get exceptional art objects made for your home in one singular exemplar. Even when they are made using our standard molds, there’s always a unique component to them: low relief murals, carved ceramics, art murals or complex multilayered brilliant glazing.

A small vintage tiled stove, made in the style of northern antique stoves. The stove was installed in the Namfleg jewelry store in Tallinn and at the customer’s decision should imitate an old stove in the cold Baltic style.

The vintage tiled stove is operational, but hot for heating, but as a kiln used for master classes on manufacturing hot enamel decorations. Therefore, a small muffle furnace is installed inside it, in which everyone can fire their enamel work.

The stove door dates back to the beginning of the 20th century and was purchased by a customer at an antique salon.

For this vintage tiled stove we used the ascetic form of northern style architecture and applied a copper gold effect glaze on tiles, which, combined with two more glazes, gave an amazing effect of metallic flicker possible only with the use of reduction firing or Raku technique.

The border under the stove cornice is made based on the Namfleg Art Deco ornament and is painted with gold, which perfectly matches the gilded door of the stove.

You can see this stove in person in the Namfleg store near the Town Hall Square (Raekoja plats) in the very center of Tallinn at 5, Saiakang street.
