About Russian Majolica

Russian Majolica

Our ceramic atelier is an association of artists and ceramists many of whom are members of various professional societies and associations based on family craft businesses.

This is why our works are of authorship even when we rework famous historical objects of art or use our standard molds.

This is also why you can get exceptional art objects made for your home in one singular exemplar. Even when they are made using our standard molds, there’s always a unique component to them: low relief murals, carved ceramics, art murals or complex multilayered brilliant glazing.

Another ceramic panel hand-painting in the slab technique with motifs based on Ivan Bilibin’s Art Nouveau illustrations to Russian fairy tales.
This is the third mural for a customer who adores Bilibin’s style and who is decorating his holiday home in the spirit of fairy tales.

The splendid, but not kind character of Russian fairy tales lives and breathes in Bilibin’s illustrations, expresses character, attitude and mood. But our Baba Yaga is not at all malicious: it is as if she is saddened to have to fly in a mortar and control the wild forest that has been entrusted to her, chasing uninvited guests out of it. However, she does her duty steadfastly, never forgetting her obligation to the woods and its inhabitants.

This treatment of the old woman’s emotional background seems to put the viewer on a more positive tone and makes them mourn the plight of the old woman.

This ceramic panel hand-painting, like most of our other murals, is made in the slab technique, so the seams do not interfere with its observation and do not break up the image into small fragments. This allows you to perceive the ceramic panel hand-painting as a whole picture and gives the impression of a unique element of home decoration – adorning it and adding exceptional artistic value to the whole interior.
