About Russian Majolica

Russian Majolica

Our ceramic atelier is an association of artists and ceramists many of whom are members of various professional societies and associations based on family craft businesses.

This is why our works are of authorship even when we rework famous historical objects of art or use our standard molds.

This is also why you can get exceptional art objects made for your home in one singular exemplar. Even when they are made using our standard molds, there’s always a unique component to them: low relief murals, carved ceramics, art murals or complex multilayered brilliant glazing.

On this page we would like to show you glazed tiles for facades, whose decorative properties lay in the «flushes» of colors and brilliant effects.

Various glaze effects on the surface of the facade tiles draw mesmerizing unrepeatable patterns on the coating which make absolutely any facade unique and one-of-a-kind.

Decorative friezes catch the sun with their vibrant glazed tiles making them shimmer in it’s radiance with uneven gradients and giving the house depth and richness of color.

On every page with pictures of our handmade facade ceramics you can see different versions of our manually glazed tiles which have stoneware with highest frost resistance as their base material.

Our ceramic facade tiles are made from stoneware clay. Usually the tiles’ dimensions are 100×100 mm but you can order them to be of any size. The tiles are glazed by our artists and are fired at 1000 degrees.

The base material for our tiles is a special clay mass which fires at temperatures above 1200 degrees. During the firing tiles vitrify and lose their ability to absorb water.

Due to this the water absorption of our tiles is less than 1% and they weather 150 freeze-thaw cycles (frost resistance of F150 according to EN ISO 10545).

That is why, coated with amazing translucent colored glazes, our facade tiles become true gems capable of nigh-eternally adorning frontages whatever the climate may be.
