About Russian Majolica

Russian Majolica

Our ceramic atelier is an association of artists and ceramists many of whom are members of various professional societies and associations based on family craft businesses.

This is why our works are of authorship even when we rework famous historical objects of art or use our standard molds.

This is also why you can get exceptional art objects made for your home in one singular exemplar. Even when they are made using our standard molds, there’s always a unique component to them: low relief murals, carved ceramics, art murals or complex multilayered brilliant glazing.

National Romanticism is northern variation of Art Nouveau. Neo-russian style is also classified as a subset of Northern Art Nouveau and National Romanticism. What is interesting to note is that in Switzerland, Art Nouveau has been dubbed Style Sapin, or spruce, though the usage of coniferous plants in decor is most frequent in Northern Art Nouveau.

There is a whole group of different elements included in our «National Romanticism» series: relief tiles, borders, cornices, corner elements, etc. We have created many fireplaces and tiled stoves in this style and we continue to do so with great pleasure for we believe that few things are more modern and appropriate than extraordinarily restrained, but lively handmade ceramics in this style.

Our tiles are based on motifs of Dippell’s reliefs. Eduard Dippell is an architect of the beginning of 20th century who had designed a great amount of ceramic stoves and fireplaces for Rakkolanioken pottery plant.
