About Russian Majolica

Russian Majolica

Our ceramic atelier is an association of artists and ceramists many of whom are members of various professional societies and associations based on family craft businesses.

This is why our works are of authorship even when we rework famous historical objects of art or use our standard molds.

This is also why you can get exceptional art objects made for your home in one singular exemplar. Even when they are made using our standard molds, there’s always a unique component to them: low relief murals, carved ceramics, art murals or complex multilayered brilliant glazing.

This is a handmade ceramic mural for a stove with tropical flowers and fruits of many picturesque shades of color and delicate drawing.

The mural is made for cladding the screen of a potbelly stove based on Vito Nesta’s wonderful botanical works, created for the Devon&Devon Italian brand.

Our remaking of Vito Nesta’s tropical garden in ceramics breathed new life into the artist’s original art, adding to it the color nuances, graphics and color overlapping, typical of ceramics.

Many garden flowers combine harmoniously with berries and fruits intertwined with grapevines and pumpkins. Small blackberries chime with large, but very decorative pineapples. Plums, mangoes, figs, chrysanthemums, roses, calla lilies, peonies – there is simply too much to list! The riot of color and the diversity of wildlife in this mural truly captivates and immerses the viewer into a sort of a Garden of Eden!

The background of the handmade ceramic mural has a special charm. This is not just a white or tinted tile surface. This is a real background, on which delicate copies of all plants sprawl in monochrome gentle turquoise blooms, emphasizing the beauty and color complexity of the mural, uniting and generalizing the whole image into a single symphony of nature.
